Adult Content Blocking

TCC offers Adult Content Blocking to allow your family to use the Internet without coming in contact with material, pictures and ideas you may find undesirable. Adult Content Blocking is included at no extra charge with your TCC service.

Background

TCC's Content Blocking is provided by 8e6 Technologies, a strong leader in the large-scale school, business and Internet provider content filtering systems. Highly specialized hardware and software systems filter incoming traffic before it gets to the end user. That means no software to install, settings to configure, updates to download OR worrying about whether you are protected.

We have set up different packages, so you have options to choose from based on what you think is appropriate.

You may switch packages to meet your needs, however our system does not provide for a) password override, b) variable blocking by time or c) specific Web site allowances.

Details about Adult Content Blocking

Only the account holder or authorized person(s) can lower or discontinue the filtering and it must be done in writing. You can stop in or mail us your request, but we will not make changes without written authorization of the TCC account holder.

Our filtering blocks content coming through the following ports:
Port 80: HTTP (Web pages)
Port 443: Secure HTTP (secured Web pages)
Port 119: News (newsgroups)
Port 21: FTP (file transfer protocol)

Our Disclaimer

We have researched many different Adult Content Blocking services for ISP level protection and feel confident in the program we have selected. 8e6 Technologies is an industry leader and X-Stop is their top ISP level product. However, due to the changing technology involved, this content filtering may not be able to identify/block text-based content or all content delivered via P2P programs such as Kazaa, iMesh, Bearshare and eDonkey. We cannot guarantee operation, blocking, safety or any other expectation placed on this filtering. We cannot be held liable or responsible for any results from using this filtering.

Our filtering system is periodically updated in order to continue effective filtering. We suggest you turn your computer (and router if you have one) off for at least an hour per week so your connection can be updated and refreshed as well. This is not only helpful to keep filtering programs updated but it makes you computer and connection run smoother as well.
